Clipped on variables like nchar columns in RDS 7.32.UC2 SCO seems to not work. database xxx main defina v like systables.tabname let v= "x" display ">", v clipped, "<" end main Output: >x < Regards, W.

It might well be a VARCHAR(128,18) for a variety of ancient reasons, in which case, the data is blank padded to 18 characters. However, none of that explains why CLIPPED isn't working - just why the unclipped value might have 17 trailing blanks.
