As to reducing fragmentation, you need to compress the table. There are three methods" 1) Unload the table to flat file(s), drop, recreate with larger extents and perhaps in a quieter dbspace. 2) ALTER INDEX <myindex> TO CLUSTER; Will rewrite the entire table after sorting it by the index's key. If you ALTER TABLE SET NEXT SIZE N; where N is a large number. -OR- 3) ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE mytable INIT IN <some_dbspace>; Art S. Kagel
