Oops, correction to re date problem
Posted in 1997
For some reason I don't see it in my news window anymore, but I just realized I misspoke myself with regards too the way a date is stored in Informix. I presume for compatibility reasons, the date (not datetime) storage format has not changed significantly since the Std. Eng. days. I think I said the date format was stored as the number of days since 1970. That is WRONG (before everyone jumps on my case). It is the number of days since 1900. (UNIX stores the datetime variable as the number of seconds since 1970; and if I'm not mistaken, MS-DOS does something similar starting with 1980). Let me know if this is wrong, but I'm pretty sure about the DOS and UNIX formats....I am sure about Informix, so definitely tell me if you disagree with me there.
