Dear
All,
During a Restore using ontape -r on AIX, I am having the following error
physical restore failed - function read archive backup failed code -1 errno 78
I then did finderr 78 and this is what I got
Program over.
Nigbill3 /u1/informix: $finderr 78
-78 Deadlock situation detected/avoided.
An operating-system error code with the meaning shown was unexpectedly
returned to the database server. If the error recurs, please note all
circumstances and contact Informix Technical Support.
Under AIX, this code means connection timed out.
Pls, I need Ur help. Can anybody help me
Regards,
James

HI
The errno refers to the system call from open/read/write/close, not the=
IDS
error. On my solaris, errno 78 corresponds to
grep 78 /usr/include/sys/errno.h
#define ENAMETOOLONG 78 /* path name is too long */
which is most likely from the open() system call.
Check the ONCONFIG TAPEDEV or LTAPEDEV and see if the value looks
reasonable.
thanks. davis.
