Install_jar, Remove_jar... How long should it take?
Posted in 2003
Can anyone from this group, that has some experience with the three
functions Install_jar, Remove_jar and Replace_jar, tell me, how long
should any one of these functions take to run, when called from
dbaccess? Whatever I do on my Informix 9.40, running on the same
machine as dbaccess with 1800Mhz Pentium, 400MB RAM, I can't make them
run faster than about 5 seconds.
Although it seems that 5 seconds is enough, and for these three
functions it really is, I'm sure it has to do with another
problem, that *any* Java function I call from dbaccess (or over ODBC), I
wait the same 5 seconds even if it's an empty function without any
statements.
Maybe somebody can tell me, where I can find more about the mechanism
of thread creation and activation, especially threads that belong to
JVM. How could I see some trace of what is happening before one
JVM thread starts to run. It almost blocks my screen and mouse.
Almost the same question I posted on May, 21st "How to preserve state
between calls to java UDRs" and didn't receive any answer. I'm still
struggling with the same problem and I hope this time the question is
simpler.
