Re: Informix Database Admin Guide...Out of Date ?

Sigh. When Informix didn't have on-line manuals, people were complaining that "everyone else has on-line manuals, why don't you?" Now that they do, people complain that they did it because it's cheap, and that it's for their own benefit but being promoted as "for your convenience." I guess you really can't win. Not that it matters, but my own perception (having been involved in some of those discussions at some point) was that Informix resisted putting manuals on-line because of the expense, and were dragged into it by the insistence of customers. That, and maybe the image of being stuck in the Stone Age :-) Believe it or not, there were people, especially Sys. Admin's with multiple licenses, who didn't want to receive the manuals, especially not in multiples. I was just glad they didn't completely *stop* printing books. Personally, I prefer paper. Reading on-line manuals makes my eyes hurt, and they're much harder to read by the swimming pool ;-) -- june_t@hotmail.com Lost in the wilds of Palo Alto, living on Peanut M&M's Tom Grenier wrote: > I agree -- I prefer paper books -- I also preferred the FrameViewer version of > the manuals ( 7.22 ) than the Acrobat version -- I still use it all the time > instead of the Acrobat version -- unless I need to look something up that is > post 7.22.
