SYSMASTER DB -Reply

My understanding is that only those tables that Informix want DBA's to use are documented. The others are for their own use and they make no guarantee that the structures will not change between releases or patches. In practice the other tables can often prove extremely useful. But unfortunately the onus is on the individual to determine their value, and one must accept the fact that scripts etc may not work on later releases. I have found that Informix technical support can sometimes give some [unofficial] good hints on how to use them. rgds -- -- Peter Tashkoff NZ Kiwifruit Project Consultant/DBA Marketing Board. I've noticed that when you are under DBACCESS that "CONNECT" allows you to choose which server you want to go to from the SQLHOST. Question: Is informix reading a table from the SYSMASTER DB? Where is the FULL DOC on the "SYS... " tables for the SYSMASTER DB, chapter 39 in the Admin Guides does not COVER them ALL! I'm not talking the arch tables in this DB!
