Mohd Shani reported error -951 (incorrect password or unknown user) on IDS 10.00.FC4 on AIX 5.3 when AIX password expiry was set, even with fixes IY71363 and IY74134 present. Martin Fuerderer advised opening a PMR with IBM support. Shani later obtained the fixes again from IBM, reinstalled and rebooted, and it worked; the first downloaded copy was suspected to be corrupted. Solved.

We are using IDS 10.00.FC4 on AIX 5.3, when the password expiry is set (ie
after 30 days user is forced to change password) user could NOT login and the
following appear in online.log -
10:05:52 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = acc106@prod:
Incorrect password or user acc106@prod is not known on the d
atabase server.
However, when the password expiry is not set, user could login OK !!!
We had tried these fixes -
# instfix -i|grep IY71363
All filesets for IY71363 were found.
# instfix -i|grep IY74134
All filesets for IY74134 were found.
# instfix -i|grep ML
All filesets for 5.3.0.0_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-01_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 5300-02_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 5300-03_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 5300-04_AIX_ML were found.
====
But nothing seem to work.
We suspect this is AIX related but feedback from Informix Gurus are greatly
appreciated.
Regards.
Shani
Hi,
please log a case (aka PMR) with IBM Informix Technical Support,
so that the problem will be documented and fixed (which seems
necessary). If it is already a known problem, they will be able to tell
you, how to fix it (patch of IDS or OS).
TIA,
Martin

Already did.
Previously we had -951 & -952.
-952 was resolved via 10.00.FC4 but -951 is still happening.
I saw several -951 in the net but on different IDS and OS, thus the solution
is not applicable.
May be the Gurus here could assist.

Dear All,
We managed to get copy of the fixes from IBM, re-installed, re-boot, then OK.
We now suspect our downloaded copy was corrupted.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL THE GURUS OUT THERE.
- CASE CLOSED -

Shani
