3480 Tape with Informix

Hello, We are now using the Informix with MISP 6380 ( mp ) with OS 5.0 The file system for Informix are treated as raw device in the MIPS system so when we are trying to backup the database of informix, we need to use the utilities that provided by the informix to achieved this. The question I need to know is that does the commands that informix used to do the database backup have any relationships to the unix's dump, cpio or tar ? For the tape that we used for the backup purpose is 2 GB with 10 cartirdges in it so everytime when the 1st tapes is completed , it should be rewinded and load the 2nd tape, but informix will not do so, we need to de-select it, unload it and then load the next one tape. it DOES anonyed us ... Any comments will be much appreciated ...
