Case sensitivity

We seem to have a problem with case sensitivity in table names, in that if we have caps in the table name (or an underscore even) we have problems either dropping or modifying the name (gives a tablename cannot be found error). We have also noticed that caps do not work in field names either (underscores work fine). Is this a "feature" of Informix? Is there a workaround (we've got a LOT of Access tables that have field names with caps in them that we need to convert over to Informix...). We're using latest version of SE for Linux...
