We tried NIS+ and DNS with Solarios 2.4 and 2.5.1 with Informix 7.x. 1. As far as I know, PC clients will not be affected at all. I am not sure about Unix clients, but it should be solvable. 2. NIS+ works with Informix OnLine: Accounts created on NIS+ master server can access OnLine installed on NIS+ client as long as appropriate grant statements are issued. 3. DNS does affect Informix in the following ways. a. The full name of the local server (including the domain name) must be in local hosts.equiv; Otherwise, "informix" account cannot access local databases. b. The full name of the local server must be in local .rhosts; Otherwise, "root" account cannot access local databases. I believe the DNS related information should be incorporated in Informix Administrator Guide. Chao
