Hi all.
We have two 9.40.UC2 systems on Solaris 9 (Sun-2900 server) and Solaris 8
(sun-3500 server)
Since the mainboard of the 2900 server went down and it will take some time to
have the new board, we have to make our old Solaris 8 system online.
Is it possible to restore the archive taken from Solaris 9 system to Solaris 8
system by using chunk renaming etc..? (Or maybe boot the Solaris 9 disk on
Sun-3500 server??)
Thanks, best regards.

Given the same binaries on both, then you should be OK. If you were
trying to change versions, you'd be on thin ice; if you were trying to
change hardware (to PPC or IA32, for example), you'd not even be in
the running.
I am assuming both machines are Sparc - if one is Intel, you have problems.
