There is an ancient ( but still existing as far as I know ) bug in informix, which causes the engine to incorrectly mark a chunk as being bad, and take it offline. The bug is that the engine assumes that the chunk is mirrored, when in reality it is not. Try editing your tbconfig, and changing the MIRROR flag from "0" to "1". This does not actually mirror the chunk, just tells informix that it is possible to mirror the chunk. This will allow you to get informix back online ( if you have been gotten by the bug... ). However, you can't change the MIRROR flag back to "0", until you have done a database restore ( and hence the chunks aren't marked bad anymore... ) - I'd recommend you backup the database a couple of times, and restore it - so as the chunks are all marked good again. If you don't go through the process of restoring, and anything more happens to mark a chunk offline again, this trick will not help you again... Hope this works! ( it may not, but its definately worth a try )... Good Luck Anthony
