PERFORM BLOB editor
Posted in 1998
I need to set a BLOB text editor for my FORM users (PERFORM) that sets a couple of editor options. But, PERFORM seems to only pay attention to the editor name and ignores the options. On my Unix system, I use an editor called "vuepad" I can set my environment variable "EDITOR" correctly with: export EDITOR='vuepad -wordWrapOn -geometry 79x40' but the options are NOT "on" when the editor comes up. So.....I try making an executable "ksh" script that simply runs the command: vuepad -wordWrapOn -geometry 79x40 and set EDITOR equal to this executable. Accessing the BLOB NOW give me a correctly "optioned" editor, but when I try to save the text BLOB, the editor doesn't know where to put the file and PERFORM doesn't seem to know the file even exists. The "normal" temporaty file location for text BLOBS is in the /tmp directory, but I have no idea how PERFORM assigns or finds this. Has anyone solved this? I'm running HPUX 9.05 with ISQL and Online 5.04.
