The SE engine supports transactions if you specify it when creating the database or with the instruction start database <xx> with log in <path>, however it is not fault tolerance ( Fast Recovery, physical log, logical log and all that kind of things ). Depending on the version, INFORMIX-SE supports triggers, store procedures, referential integrity. But will not take all the advantages from the Hardware and OS that INFORMIX-OnLine supplies. Q. Does your stored procedures update from two diferent databases and execute the Two-Phase commit transparently ? A. INFORMIX-SE does not support two-phase commit, you will have to manage it in other way. Q. Do they check something from the SMI database ? A. Why ? , INFORMIX-SE doesn't have SMI database, it administrates the database as a directory with .dat and idx files, altough there are system tables like systables, sysconstraints ... Q. Do they execute any sql-statement referencing the server, database and table? A. You will have to change it to the sintax supported by INFORMIX-SE.
