Yes Mark, this is a very good idea. We have been practicing this. One more
advantage is, if we are using the environment variables in the configuration
files for the applications like below
PRD_INFORMIXDIR /usr/informix
DEV_INFORMIXDIR /xxx/xxxxxxx
we don't need to modify these files every time we change or modify the
directory if we make a link.
