Tape device access Redhat ES

How do I give the user informix access to the tape device in RedHat. Currently
when using the mt command or ontape command, the server returns "permission
denied"
you need to chmod, chown, or chgrp the device file to permit user informix to
write to it.
chmod 666 /dev/mt0
-or-
chown informix /dev/mt0
-or-
chgrp informix /dev/mt0
Depending on how you want to permit/restrict access by/from other users. You
could also create a tape access group and add that group to informix' group
list the chgrp the device to that tape access group.

Thank you Art. In RedHat root:disk owns /dev/st0 so putting informix is the disk group worked. I find it odd that the informix install routine, specific to RedHat, didn't do this or ask "Does informix need access to a tape device?" and make the change to /etc/group accordingly.
