Perhaps I am! The above figures break the reporting rules of the Transaction Processing Council (TPC). Whenever you quote a TPC result you must quote both the the performance (i.e. tps-A/B or tpm-C) and the price per transaction in the currency quoted by the benchmark sponsor. This is because the TPC benchmarks are price-performance (grunt-per-buck) benchmarks and many vendors will limit performance to gain optimium price-performance figures. And while I am here... ICL is proud to anounce that on 25 August 1993 we released our first TPC-C figure of 208.56 tpm-C and a price performance of (UK pounds) 1341/tpm-C for the ICL DRS6000 L370 client server system. The system costs 297,685 U.K Pounds for total cost of ownership over 5 year period and full maintainance (TPC-C pricing rules). -- Karl Funk Performance Benchmarking Unit ICL Server Systems Division Opinions expressed here are mine and not necessarily those of my employer.
