Also check the following kernel parameters.
HVMMLIM/SVMMLIM (Maximum amount of virtual memory allocated to a
process).
HDATLIM/SDATLIM (Maximum size of heap for a process in bytes).
HSTKLIM/SSTKLIM (Maximum size of stack segment for a process in bytes)
These apply on Pyramid/ICL DRS/NX and may or may not apply on your
platform. If not you may have
MAXUMEM or MAXMEM (Maximum amount of virtual memory allocated to a
process).
>4) Increase SHMTOTAL in your onconfig file or set it to zero ( 0 )

I always set if to 0 - I'd rather have Informix run slow and page/swap
rather than fail the operation requesting more memory.
