Problem with 4GL's make-utility
Posted in 1994
Hi, I'm having a problem including an ESQL/C-Program into a project written in 4GL. System: SNI RM400 (MIPS R4400) under SINIX 5.41 (SysVR4), Informix-4GL 4.1, Informix-ESQL/C 5.01 With the 4GL command line, I can compile mixed source code just fine. Example: c4gl -o sendtest best_send.ec sendtest.4gl -lmedas gives the required result. Trying the same thing in the 4GL programming environment, I entered "sendtest" in the 4GL module section, "best_send.ec" in the "other modules" section and "medas" in the library section. (We have a German port of the Informix software, so the English names for those sections might actually be different, but I hope you understand what I mean. Compilation fails with the error message "ESQL/C not installed". I attribute this to the fact that there is a version mismatch between 4GL and the installed ESQL/C. To overcome this problem, I precompiled "best_send.ec" on the command line with "c4gl -e best_send.ec" and changed the entry in the "other modules" section to "best_send.c". This time, compilation fails with "cannot open include file 'sqlfm.h'". As a last resort, I tried precompiling with "esql -e best_send.ec". Now compilation fails with "cannot open include file 'sqlhdr.h'". The actual project includes a lot more source files, so I am hesitant to convert to doing all compilation from the command line. Is there a way how I can successfully compile from within the 4GL environment?
