NET connection problems
Posted in 1998
We are constantly encountering net connection problems, where should
we start to investigate?
machine: SNI RM600 V5.43 / INFORMIX V7.12 UC1
up to 70 PCs connected via Ethernet
We are running 2 CPUVPs and 4 NETVPs on a 3 CPU machine with 512 MB memory,
this gives us 4 tlitcppoll threads & 9 tlitcplst threads.
The machine has 3 ethernet boards
We have KIO support and 1 AIOVP only & that looks good.
( 2 KIO queues, as we have 2 CPUVPs, load is balanced))
Connection type is TLI
This is our NETTYPE Statement
NETTYPE tlitcp,4,40,NET # Override sqlhosts nettype parametersThis is some of the other $ONCONFIG lines, maybe influencing this behavior
SERVERNUM 1 # Server Number
DBSERVERNAME I4080001 # Database Server
DBSERVERALIASES s40800011,0.s1,1.s1,I4080002,0.I1,1.I1,0.I2,1.I2 # List ofalternate dbservernames
MULTIPROCESSOR 0 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 2 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vps to one
NOAGE 0 # Process aging
AFF_SPROC 0 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 0 # Affinity number of processors
Yes, I have to test NOAGE and AFF_*, as it is supported on our platform
according to relnotes
I will also test with MULTIPROCESSOR set to 1.
I see headers in onstat -g nt? showing q-exceeds >0 and
I do not know, what that means exactly
like this:
#netscb connects read write q-free q-limits q-exceed
29/ 137 16888 1954810 1882049 9/ 10 10/ 10 41/ 0
I followed the thread in c.d.i "problem with shared memory connections",
maybe we have a similar problem ???
Please, Art and Paul, do you have some tips for me?
What should I look for in getting around that problem?
Where can I get some help?
We do have a support contract with INFORMIX,
but I think that I am just overlooking
something & this maybe an easy config problem only.
