Delete and Insert V's Update of Rows that expand
Posted in 1995
Hi all, It used to be true, or at least it was my understanding, that where a row contained many empty varchar fields and these fields were then changed to hold text, it was more efficient to delete and re-insert the row than to update the row. This was because you didn't end up splitting the row over multiple pages. With the page compression capabilities, etc in V7.1 does this still apply or is it now more efficient to update the row?
