In article <finkel.267.002568B0@links.com>, finkel@links.com says most eloquently... > >Hi Tim. > >First impressions truly are lasting impressions. Rich, I keep thinking I'm gonna stop posting to this news group, but the discussions are so lively right now, what with the flaming of Oracle et al. That LENGTH() and trailing spaces thread has got to be the longest running battle I've seen in some time. Talk about whipping dead horses! I wish more folks would post their stories. These are exciting times. Hey, if Win 95 wasn't on the horizon, half this C/S talk would have to go to some other group. comp.databases.informix.vt100 would still be a contender. Anyway, it's interesting that INFORMIX would let you bear the cost of a New Era installation. I'm sure they're scrambling right now to get the next release right, phoning developers, and end-users, to see how they like or dislike the product. Of course that's a small list anyway, so they should have it under control. Nothing a little oil money can't fix. Did you get your product survey filled out? *-) I liked the User Conference brochure cover, showing a man with a sledge hammer. This is indicative of what it will take marketing New Error. :-) PS. On page 41 of the latest ComputerWorld is English Wizard, a free-form SQL parser for $99 US to go with <ahem> Access and others.
