The best way to find information of this nature is via the Informix web page at http://www.informix.com . There, you can find a great deal of general information about the company. More specifically, you can also find the complete set of product documentation, with exhaustive detail on Informix's use of disk. You can find pointers to third-party manuals, handbooks, and other literature at the web site of the International Informix Users Group at http://www.iiug.org . There is also a great deal of information available in that organization's archive of the comp.databases.informix newsgroup. For a hex-level explanation of *exactly* how Informix reads and writes to disk (and memory, and communication mechanisms) you should take the "Internal Architecture" class. The web site has information about scheduling and availability and a contact for additional information in Belgium.
