Online Segmentation Fault, Then Error -1 After Reboot?
Posted in 1996
I'm having a *very* interesting problem with my OnLine 7.10.UC2 on AT&T MP-RAS 2.03.01, on which I'm developing an ESQL/C application. For the past couple of days, I have been getting an Assert Failed: Internal Error - Segmentation Violation while COMMITting WORK during an INSERT cursor into a temp table. I've got a case number with Informix, but I haven't heard anything in a while and I keep getting dumped into voice mail (so much for "priority two"! <grimace>). In a vision this morning as I was waking up, I thought of something that might have triggered this bug: I had placed an index on the temp table for which only three values (plus NULL) were allowed. I recalled this was a no-no from the performance manual (but not an engine-killer). I commented out the creation of this index, and the problem went away!... ...until only a little later in development, when it came back during the EXECUTion of a parameterized UPDATE statement in a SELECT FOR UPDATE cursor. But late this afternoon, I thought I'd try rebooting the machine. Now, instead of the assert failure, I'm getting an SQLCODE error -1, "Not Owner". Finderr tells me that this has something to do with permissions. What exactly that is is not stated. Does anybody have any clues what might be going on here?
