Well, If I am going to purchase Informix I would rather purchase (because of the cost of the beast) one that has been correctly ported to the platform, one that I didn't have to use a SCO box to develope the software on because of the library issues.. One that has been tested and is Informix certified on that platform... Don't get me wrong, the iBCS module for Linux is a great thing, it gives it the power to run a large base of software that is out there for SCO. But, like I said when I am going to purchase the Informix beast I would want the real thing... > On a sidenote, in the Sybase newsgroup, a Sybase employee posted that they > were considering releasing a _free_ source code version of their RDMBS prepared > for Linux, but shall offer no support services for it, just a "go-ahead-and- > use-it,-if-it-works-for-you-then-groovy,-else-if-it-don't-then-don't-bother-us" > support policy. I doubt that this proposed offer will ever materialize, though. > Not that I think enough of Sybase to invest any of my time fooling around with > it anyway unless I was bored :-) I would get a copy of this just to see how it is done, maybe even learn a thing or two from it. Heck if it does the job I want it to, I may even use it... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jason Lambert Bass, Inc.
