I am a Production Consultant for a software company. I have a client running 9.4 FC1 on Solaris 2.9. They are having issues with DBExport and DBImport as their method of backing up their software metadata. The error message we are receiving after restoring the metadata is telling us that data is being truncated (This is software error message, not Informix). Does any know of any issues with DBExport/DBImport Truncating Data?

You should upgrade past 9.40.FC3 - but not because of changes in DB-Export or DB-Import (because of security issues, in fact). The usual problem with using DB-Export as a backup mechanism is that it locks the database (by default) to prevent it changing while the export occurs. This is rather invasive for production systems. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
