split informix
Posted in 1998
Perhaps, Informix should split itself at least internally. We could have Informix_RealWorld that continues to support us horible wretches that have used Informix products for the last 15 years or so. This product continues to provide solutions for us and we are able to use the product in consenence(sp) with other products to get our work done. We have used the product with unix systems to get credible work down. We knew the product when the company name was RDS. This is probably true for Informix Turbo, Informix Online 4.X, 5.X, 6.X, and Informix 7.X. I don't want to talk about Informix before SQL, but hey it worked then also. Maybe the product terms are not exactly correct but hopefully you get the idea. The other split should be called Informix_elPresidente. The last elPresidente parachuted into somewhere in the south of Spain or so I am told. The current elPresidente probably has convinced the powers that be that he knows how to run a database company. I am waiting to be convinced. Now the current elPresidente decides and announced that he is going after the big dollars. He is no doubt a great manager of corporations and he clearly knows more about the products than we do. I am going to say it now and the current elPresidente can sue me if he so desires but that would require character and I don't think that I am at risk. He is after the money. Is that tacky enough? I guess I should apoligize to all of you people in cdi. No I shouldn't. You folks should rear up on your hind legs and demand something better. A stockholders revolt? Yee! Randall Young ryoung@bix.com
