missing checkpoints

Hello Gurus, Does anybody know why a 9.21 ids engine would not do a checkpoint for at least 30 minutes. all previous checkpoint took 0 seconds and all subsequent checkpoints also took 0 seconds. The application process died or rather the application connection to the database died, but it seems that the database itself never really came down. The application itself was restarted, not the instance and it worked properly after that. many thanks pigalle

If there are zero pages in memory dirtied, then the engine doesn't checkpoint. (nothing to write out anyway). It sounds like your application died, thus no connections to the database, thus no changes. People that usually only have activity on their database during the day will notice that the database doesn't checkpoint at night.
