At least terminfo documents the default function key labels where termcap may not have. In the SVR4 man page terminfo(4) we find: key_f0 kf0 k0 KEY_F(0), sent by function key f0 key_f1 kf1 k1 KEY_F(1), sent by function key f1 ... lab_f0 lf0 l0 Labels on function key f0 if not f0 lab_f1 lf1 l1 Labels on function key f1 if not f1 ... If there are function keys such as f0, f1, ..., f63, the sequences they send can be specified as kf0, kf1, ..., kf63. If the first 11 keys have labels other than the default f0 through f10, the labels can be given as lf0, lf1, ..., lf10. Pretty explicit if you ask me. Nevertheless the example in Appendix-J of the SQL user manual includes "kf0=^A@^M". Huh?? [I've seen worse - a vendor who shall remain nameless using lf1..lf16 to specify the _shifted_ function keys. Wreaks havoc when my programs use them correctly and display to the screen...] While we're on the subject, I read in the SQL 4.1 User manual "Since terminfo does not support color, you can only use INFORMIX-SQL color functionality with termcap." But in terminfo(4): set_background setb Sb Set current background color set_foreground setf Sf Set current foreground color1 I had hoped this would have been fixed by 4.1, since it is expensive in our support time having to maintain both termcap and terminfo.
