What do they mean by "Dynamic"? It runs with Informix Dynamic Server :-) Or it's "dynamic" in that it can change it's apperance from character based to GUI? Realy marketing only of course, and that's actually quite good. In this case Dynamic gives an impression of something more, better, featurerich... whatever, than standard Informix 4GL. Informix allways needed a lot more marketing and this is but a tiny part of that. >> There are also at least two other companies that make 4GL clones that >> either are awailable now or will be soon. >> >> All this where announce on the IWUC conference last week, but didn't >> seem to make it out to the "masses". >> >> With all this may be you don't need a primer on ESQL/C :-) > > I hope not; I have four years of hard-and-fast training on 4GL. High performance Java connectivity in the form of JDBC drivers will be available from OpenLink in a few days. Java will bring you much faster forward and much further than C when it comes to bussiness type applications. Of course C can bring you a little deaper down at least for now. That may change one day though. Just a thought.
