First you must understand that this part of the software bussiness has been moving fast lately. That means even if you ever gets this to work, you can expect neither stability, speed nor much support. A dismall situation that should prompt you to update things before you start. Anything else is *not* professional. There may however be reasons for doing things that are not professional so: PowerBuilder native drivers means some version of I-Net. Which one do you have? Does it work? Have you tested with ilogin (if that exists in your version)? "Cannot open file 'sql.iem'." sounds like an Informix message file. Have you set the INFORMIXDIR and all other environement variables in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file? Which are they and what have you set them to? Any ODBC drivers? Which one? Version and everything. FTP's TCP/IP - but they had a lot of versions. Does your I-Net work with the version you have? Supported from Informix? Microsoft also have a free TCP/IP for WFW 3.11 that you might want to try. To do that your I-Net has to support winsock and you have to make sure you have only one winsock.dll on you machine (or at least in your path and current directory) and it's the right one for the TCP/IP stack you are using. This is only a very small part of all the things that could be wrong. If you had Informix ver. 7.x (SE or OnLine) and Windows 95 with built in TCP/IP your situation would be so different that any costs of that upgrade would be offsett by the number of hours you would save plus the reliability you would gain.
