Oops, I think you are not right. I didn't work with SE for a while, but as I remember the steps to configure SE for network connections are: 1. Describe the connection in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file, like: servername sesoctcp hostname servicename 2. Put the servicename in /etc/services and assign it a free port number, like: servicename 1526/tcp 3. run sqlexecd, whenether it resides and set its first parameter to the server name: sqlexecd servername Look for servername in sqlhosts. That's all. Sorry, but I could be wrong, it's been a long time since I've worked with SE :-) Best Regards, Octav On Mon, Oct 11, 1999 at 04:55:22PM +0100, Obnoxio The Clown wrote: > From: oliver fodor <ofodor@nevado.cui.edu.co> > > > >can anybody give me a hint how to start sqlexec service (informix se > >7.2/linux) to establish an ODBC connection from a remote client (using > >onsoctcp)? just need the command line with parameters. sorry for such a > >trivial question but i dont't have the manual and can't browse the net :(. > >thanks > > $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd or $INFORMIXDIR/bin/sqlexecd (I can't remember > which, it's been so long.
