914 error in Online 5.05.UC1

I had a program that would open a database without logging on a remote server and fetch a record. Next I would open a database on the local server and update a record. Finally I would open the first database, delete the record and repeat the whole process over a thousand times. At random times a 914 error would occure and the program would terminate. I noticed that each time the remote database was opened, an sqlturbo would start on the remote server and terminate when the database is closed. The net result is that the remote sqlturbo has to be started 1000 times, once for each record. I believe that this may be causing the 914 errors. The two servers are almost identical: 133Mhz Pentium PCI with SMC Ultra ISA ethernet cards. The OS is SCO ODT 3.0. Both Online systems are version 5.05.UC1 - one developement and one runtime. My work around was to read and update 100 records at a time, thereby reducing the number of times I have to switch databases by 90%. Does anyone have an idea why this happens and if it has been fixed. I first reported this behavior to Informix 2 years ago with no resolution. The version we had then was 5.02.UC1. rmajor@moose.erie.net.
