Have you recently added some additional hardware? The power supply when it is going or is over stressed will introduce spikes in the power and can corrupt data being read or written by the controllers. I had this. There may not even be any physical damage just flaky reads. If you have added hardware, additional disks, a new CDROM, internal modem, etc. about the time that the problem showed up I'd say that you need a more powerful power supply otherwise try replacing that first anyway as the cheapest possible culprit. If you've got a hardware tech available you can have everything checked out. Art S. Kagel
