Dates and Times as string with Infromix JDBC?

We have a lot of legacy ColdFusion code that connects to Informix and uses dates and times as strings. For example: SELECT a.acct_id, a.acct_code FROM sp_account a WHERE a.acct_create_date = "01/23/2005" is a query that worked fine in ColdFusion ( on Solaris ) using the older ODBC drivers for Informis. We're upgrading to ColdFusionMX and MX requires that we use JDBC drivers. I've downloaded and installed the Informix JDBC 2.21.JC6 driver and now we can not use dates as strings in queries - it wants us to create date objects. This is fine going forward, but we have a ton of code that will have to be changed if we can't get the old format to work. Is there any way to use the old string dates with the Informix JDBC drivers?
