Connection to the database

We're going to install the system(using Power Builder) that we're developed outside the LAN where our database server(Online Workgroup Server) are located. Can anybody tell me what we need to do to : 1. The server that contain the database 2. The machine that will run the system (.exe file) 3. What type of network connection do we need to have. - Can we use dail-up connection to run the system Thanks.
