YES! How To Compile AFCL.
Posted in 1997
Problems with compeling the AFCL in NewEra 3.0 are now solved.
If you wanna compile AFCL in NE3, do the following :
1) Run dbaccess and connect to pws
2) UPDATE projects SET root_dir = 'c:\\tmp' WHERE id = 1
This is required because there is a project called informix which is
setup automatically pointing to your newera installation directory,
this will prevents any projects being created in here, but we want to
do so this will point it somewhere else!
3) exit dbaccess
4) In app builder create a project called newafcl. Set the
path for this to the installation directory of newera. We will ref.
to this as INFDIR from now on .
5) Create a new component of type lib, called myafcl, make sure it is
a 32 bit dyn.lib. Set the path for it to INFDIR\\classes\\afcl\\src
6) Add all the (except uafrwork.4gl) .4gl files in this dir to the
component
7) Now add all the .4gh files in this dir to the component.
8) Finally add all .4gh files in INFDIR\\incl\\fgl
9) Now to the Headers tab in the component maintenance and add all the
the headers that are shown available.
10) Build the project. Note : This will take a while (as all NewEra
things do ;-) )
11) copy INFDIR\\classes\\afcl\\src\\myafcl.dll to INFDIR\\bin\\afcl32.dll
12) Remove the newafcl project (not the files)
13) Run dbaccess again and connect to pws
14) UPDATE projects SET root_dir = 'INFDIR' WHERE id = 1
NOTE that INFDIR is the dir where informix NewEra is installed......
15) Build your projects using afcl again and your done....

This was a text I got from Informix, but it is my guess that we could do
it smarter..
I guess that we could do it like this :
run step : 1,2,3
execute : CD INFDIR\\classes\\afcl\\src
execute : nmake afcl32.mak
run step : 13,14,15
But I'm not sure about this yet.
