Migration vs. New install 7.3 to 9.2

Hello all, Does anyone have any recommendations on migration strategies? Our production server is hp-ux 11 and 7.3 IMFX. I am debating whether to do a clean install of 9.2 as a new instance of IMFX and then migrate the data over -or- create a second 7.3 instance and then upgrade to 9.2. Any thoughts on which is the best strategy? Any reasons either will not work or whether I will have problems in execution? tia Doug
The only problem with upgrading in place to 9.2 is that upgraded tables/
databases cannot be dbexported. If your backup/safety strategy includes
using dbexport you must consider exporting/importing or copying into a clean
9.2 instance.

We will also be upgrading from 7.31 to 9.2 in the next few months. I had
planned on doing an in-place upgrade to save time (we currently have about
65 GB of data). You are saying that if I do this, I will no longer be able
to use dbexport to export my data??? I use ontape as our nightly backup,
but I use dbexport / dbimport to move data from our production machine to
our development machine.

Yes, bug in dbexport it only supports native 9.2x tables/databases. You
could use myexport (my dbexport replacement) but that's not a fix.
