Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Kris Jakaran, new to Informix, asked how to generate sequential numbers automatically for an id field. Hugues-Olivier Yar, Andy McColl and Clifton Bean all pointed to the SERIAL data type. Clifton added that it can be seeded with a starting number (default 1) and referred to the Tutorial and Syntax guides. The answer was consistent; no reply from the poster.

See the field type "serial", defined in the INFORMIX Tutorial Guide ... and
in the Syntax Guide under "Create Table" (I think). You can seed it with a
starting number. Serial(1) is the default setting.
Both manuals are available online under http://www.informix.com/answers .
You can also download them if you wish.
Take care.
