MultiProcessor question

Hi, I run On-Line 5.10 on Sun Ultra450 under fully patched Solaris 2.6. Kernel is tuned as per Informix recommendations. The machine had 2*300MHz processors and I upgraded it to 4 processors (the same exact speed and revision). Since then users start complaining about slow response from the database. When there is such a complain, I often see CPU idling and the majority of user processes waiting for the same buffer. At the same time user application would time-out and disconnect from the host often (not always) leaving DB connection open. Then user application would make next attempt for connection and so it goes... If I disable 2 CPUs, the process normalizes quickly. This problem does not necessarily appear again after I enable all 4 CPU, it might take a week or so. Does anyone know if there exists any problem running Informix on multiprocessors machine? Any workarounds? Thanks. Ivan
Ivan, how much memory to you have? I'm not that familure with that specific server but in general when you add procs also add memory because when the system boots it grabs memory for each proc then your database can have whats left.
