Since on version 9 it is possible to generate XML using a datablade written by IBM'er Jacques Roy. It worked in our case were simples XML documents were needed, with no additional coding. This works on 10 too. Since IDS version 11 much of this functionality is built in.See: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v111/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.x ml.doc/ids_xppublishing.html http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/gbowerman?tag=xml http://www.ibmdatabasemag.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=201201285 From IDS 11.50 there is also XSLT support. SQLCMD has an 'XML output' mode which basically generates a structure like: <recordset> <record> <column1> ... </column1> ... </record> <record> ... </record> </recordset> You can control the tags for recordset and record by command line options; the column names are the names returned by the SELECT statement. If that's sufficient for you, then it works regardless of version of IDS. It not, then you need to look at the formal XML support available in IDS 11, for example. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2008.0513 -- http://dbi.perl.org/ "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused."
