Question from a novice user

hi netters, I am new to this software. We bought Informix ESQL/c along with Standard Engine for Ultrix 4.2 a. I was reading one of the ESQL/c programmers manual. All the library functions that Informix is providing like stleng, stcopy(), stcmpr, are all provided by the standard c library itself. They look the same as the ones strlen, strcpy etc. Am I missing something or is there any difference that I am overlooking? sorry if this is a FAQ question.
