IDS with SuSE Linux 6.2

Does anybody know, how to run IDS with SuSE Linux 6.2? It works perfectly with a Mandrake 2.0.36-kernel, but not with a SuSE 2.0.36 kernel (error message: "Warning: network down"). SuSE offers a patch for kernel version 2.0.36, but it is not a source-patch and therefore I don't know how to modify kernel 2.2.10 to get the same result. thanks for your help Markus

Why on Earth would you run such an old kernel with SuSE 6.2? SuSE 6.2's inherent kernel is 2.2.10!!! (2.0.36 was from two SuSE releases ago - SuSE 6.0) Assuming this was a typo and you are running the built-in 2.2.10 kernel: I've seen that error when informix couldn't read the sqlhosts file; make sure the entry in your sqlhosts file for that server is correct and that informix can read the sqlhosts file (and, of course, that the servernames/protocols/etc all correspond).
