You will learn how to determine system sizing constraints. You will also learn how to determine optimal system configuration and archiving strategies. In addition, you will learn techniques for system monitoring and performance tuning of large databases. Prerequisites: ' Knowledge of SQL ' Experience using INFORMIX-OnLine Introduction to INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server TUT-2 In this tutorial, you will learn about the new INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server multithreaded architecture. In addition, you will learn about the new features of the OnLine Dynamic Server. Migration from OnLine to OnLine Dynamic Server will also be discussed. Prerequisites: ' Knowledge of INFORMIX-OnLine Tips and Tricks for INFORMIX-4GL Application Developers TUT-3 In this session, INFORMIX-4GL application developers will learn advanced techniques for developing INFORMIX-4GL applications in a UNIX environment. Topics covered will include: customized makefiles for INFORMIX-4GL development (makefiles will be distributed to attendees); INFORMIX-4GL utilities (utilities source code will be distributed to attendees); INFORMIX-4GL libraries; INFORMIX-4GL optimization; generic 4GL error routines (error routines source code will be distributed to attendees). Prerequisites: ' Experience developing INFORMIX-4GL applications in a UNIX environment Building an Application Using the INFORMIX-4GL++ Window Painter and Application Builder TUT-4 This tutorial introduces the window painter role in 4GL++ application development. Topics covered include implementing controls and rapid application development using SuperTables. How to create, compile, and run a program using the application builder will also be explored. Prerequisites: ' INFORMIX-4GL programming experience ' Experience using Microsoft Windows Monitoring and Tuning INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server Performance TUT-5 This tutorial will provide you with practical information on how to monitor and tune INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server. We will examine problem scenarios and discuss strategies to improve performance. Prerequisites: The Introduction to INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server tutorial or knowledge of INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server 6.0 Incorporating Triggers and Stored Procedures into Your Informix Databases TUT-6 This session will teach you how to use stored procedures and triggers to enforce business rules and control how data is retrieved and updated in your Informix database. Prerequisites: ' Knowledge of SQL ' Experience using Informix databases Creating ODBC-Compatible INFORMIX-4GL++ Applications TUT-7 This tutorial provides an overview of the connectivity class library (CCL) and describes how it can be used to write 4GL++ applications that are portable to Microsoft ODBC. We will look at how objects of the CCL are used in place of statements like DATABASE, OPEN, CLOSE, PREPARE, EXECUTE, and FETCH. Prerequisites: ' INFORMIX-4GL programming experience ' Experience using Microsoft Windows Session Descriptions Introduction to Informix B-01 Get a high-level overview of Informix as a company, including corporate goals and philosophy, our business model, plans for growth, marketing strategies, market position and market share, products, programs, and customers. This is a great overview for those just learning about Informix Software. Informix Dynamic Scalable Architecture: A Technology Roadmap B-03 Industry analysts are praising the Informixs approach to next-generation hardware such as symmetric multiprocessors, loosely coupled clusters, and massively parallel systems. This session overviews Informixs new Dynamic Scalable Architecture and explains Informixs vision and strategy for maximizing the power now available through parallel computing. Informix Tools Strategy Overview B-05 This overview of our tools strategy, meant specifically for high-level decision makers, explains how each of our tools products fits into their companys range of business needs.
