Script for stopping/starting continuous logging?
Posted in 2012
We're running IDS 11.50.FC6 on RHEL 5.3.
We use ontape for backups, and currently send the log backups to the filesystem with "ontape -c":
LTAPEDEV /ifmx_llog_tapes/my_instance/logical_log_week1A
I would like to change this to just the directory, so that "ontape -c" will automatically create a new file in the dir when it's restarted:
LTAPEDEV /ifmx_llog_tapes/my_instance/
And I would also like to restart the continuous logging daily, so that we basically get a single log file per day. We have several instances running, so it's kind of a pain to stop and restart each one.
Does anyone have an easy way to stop/restart "ontape -c" with a script or something? I can come up with one, just checking if anyone has already done this.
Thanks,
Sean.
