What do they have to do with : decision support, which is clearly the target market? TPC is not a benchmark. TPC is the Transaction Processing Council, and as such TPC as a term covers **all** of the TPC benchmark programs, including the TPC-D Decision Support benchmark, announced in April of 1995. You are confusing the term TPC with the TPC-C benchmark, which is the latest and greatest of the transaction-processing benchmarks from TPC. : Perhaps, but given your response, I wonder if you've built any data : warehouses before. Usage profiles in decision support are not at all : similar to OLTP, which is the domain of TPC. Even if your point were revelant, you'd be only partially right here. From an academic, ivory tower standpoint, the usage patterns **are** totally different. In many real-world applications, however, the systems will encompass both OLTP and DS elements. Understanding the nature of such a blended system can allow many functions in the DSS portion to operate with the performance profiles of an OLTP system. : _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ : _/ Neil Raden - nraden@ix.netcom.com : _/ : _/ Archer Decision Sciences, Inc : _/ Consultants & Systems Integrators : _/ 133 E.
