If the system does it, it works. If you do it on a fragmented table, it has to do it by some other method than plain rowid (possibly by fragid & rowid -- fragid is not available to users). Whatever, it is an internal decision of the engine. What you choose to do is a separate issue. If you decide to use rowids explicitly, then you had better not be working on a fragmented table without a WITH ROWIDS column.
