Re: Klingon Question.

I read one of the books that was part of the loose series of books about Star Trek put out by Pocket Books. In that book, there was a planet that was hailed and "the world of peace." This world was inhabited by members of many races of the Federation, and in it's early days had a Klingon and Romulan contingent. When the Romulan contingent pulled out, so did most of the Klingons. One Klingon stayed, as he was married to an human. (There were many inter-species marriages there, with children). This man was a scientist, not a warrior and wanted to stay on with his half-human sons. There was an epidemic on the planet, and the Klingons (Smooth head variety) were immune to the disease. The disease quickly mutated through the inter-species children, and was killing off the colony. Basically. it turned out that this disease was Klingon in origin, and the Smooth head variety of Klingons were immune, but the "Imperial" breed (Bumpy heads) were not, so they could not leave Klinzhai. A cure for the disease was found by the federation scientists on this world, and given to the Klingons, which allowed the Imperial Klingons to venture off the planet. This can account for most of the inconsistencies. The time that Kahless was seen in TOS (as a smooth head), it could be argued that it was not really him, as many historical figures were present there, and he may have been generated by Kirk and Spock's mental conception of the Klingons (As you remember that episode also had other historical figures, mostly human, and 1 Vulcan, 1 Klingon) I will try to find the title of the book for anyone that is interested, but it was not a major part of the story line, more like an afterthought.
