Flash Storage

Hi, We are running Informix 11.50.FC6 on UNIX Solaris 10. Our sys-admins are exploring using Flash memory array storage for the Informix OLTP system raw chunk data storage. They are considering Flash Array options like Violin. Does anyone have any experience with using informix and flash memory for storage on an OLTP system? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Dave in4mixdba@gmail.com --20cf303b430b86c33904c4901bac
ADTC tested Flash drives last year for OLTP. This is testing only. They are VERY FAST, not news, and Informix works just fine with them. I still have concerns about lifespan, but at this point it is about the same as most disk drives, so that's not a big issue as long as you know to swap them out for replacements every three years or so. See my presentation to the IIUG Conference entitled "Doing Storage Right..." for some other issues that are related. Art Art S.
